This alley filters out nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended solids from over 30,000 gallons of stormwater that would otherwise run into storm drains or directly into the River. When the water passes through the gaps between pavers and the different layers of aggregate the water is filtered and enters the groundwater. The pictures detail the different layers of aggregate the water is filtered through. The drainage area encompasses 1.25 acres of impervious surface and has enough storage to treat all runoff up to a 1.25” rain event.
