Bioswale

Well-designed bioswales have proven to be effective in removing sediments and pollutants in stormwater runoff from streets and parking lots, cleansing it before it enters the water table. This decreases flood occurrences and prevents contamination of streams, lakes, rivers and oceans. The added vegetation bioswales provide can serve as habitat for plants, insects and wildlife. Bioswales are also an aesthetically pleasing addition to an impervious area and can serve as space for community interaction with the environment.
